Michelins latest dual compound Sports Touring tyres.
The ideal balance Independent tests confirm the Pilot Road 2 offers better wet grip and longer tread life than any of its competitors.
How did Michelin incorporate
these two contradictory traits in one tyre? MotoGP-derived 2CT technology makes
it possible, using two distinct rubber compounds to achieve what was once
thought impossible.
| Wet grip and durability testing was performed in 2006 by CERM (Centre d’Essais Routiers Mécaniques) on Michelin Pilot Road 2 and five leading competitors' equivalent tyres, using sizes 120/70 ZR 17 and 180/55 ZR. |

Michelins' latest Pilot Power tyres are aimed at the hypersport motorcycle market. They are designed to 'become the most radical sports tyre on the market'. The rubber compound used for the Pilot Power is 7% softer than its closest rival, without compromising longevity! In simple terms a tyre with incredible levels of grip without the usual rapid wear rate normally associated with hypersport tyres.
Recently tested by over 40 industry journalists and 'motorcycle experts', it is worthy of note that this is the first time a motorcycle tyre has been launched and no one crashed at the launch!

BT021 Front BT021 Rear
Having set performance standards worldwide with the renowned sport touring BT-020 (NT), Bridgestone has now gone one better. Its successor, the new Battlax BT-021, is a true luxury sport tyre, with confident front-end feel, high stability both on motorways and winding roads, strong grip on wet and dry, and plenty of shock absorption for comfortable long journeys. It beats BT-020 performance on all major criteria, including higher mileage in all riding modes.
The distinctive new slash pattern design with wide crossing centre grooves on the front tyre gives top-quality handling and steer precision. Mileage tests also show significantly higher resistance to irregular wear than the BT-020 tyre it replaces.
The rear tyre tread construction with Cap & Base technology and dual compound tread provides plenty of cornering control from the high-grip shoulder compound, while the firmer centreline and base layer produce the necessary tread stiffness for improved traction and mileage. Stability and cushioning are enhanced by a newly-developed outside bead filler in the soft two-ply construction.

BT014 Front BT014 Rear
Incorporating technologies derived from Bridgestone’s MotoGP participation, the Battlax BT-014 radial series is designed to maximize the street performance of hyper-sport replica motorcycles.
New tread compounds and carcass constructions are used on both front and rear models – the latter having a grip enhancing silica-rich rubber formulation, combined with a cap and base construction. That is an underlying layer that provides more effective shock absorption. For optimal linearity, the complementary patterns employ a mix of groove directions to control deformation over a wide range of camber angles and speeds
‘S’-shaped groove extensions in the central area of the front-wheel tread contribute to better steering characteristics and reduced kick-back. For the rear tyre, however, chevron-shaped central lug grooves ensure efficient water drainage and lower noise levels.
Prices are £94.00 for a 120/70ZR-17 front and £125.00 for a 180/55ZR-17 rear including VAT balancing and fitting to loose wheels.
The new
Road Attack sports-touring radial is designed to give the performance of a
sports tyre whilst a deeper tread provides longer service life. This means that
the Road Attack has a very wide application range to suit many bikes and rider
preferences. Sports Touring will never be quite the same again due to
improvements like you will see in the Road Attack tyre.Prices are £66.00 for a 120/70ZR-17 front and £107.00 for a 180/55ZR-17 rear including VAT balancing and fitting to loose wheels.

Z6 Front Z6 Rear
The successor to the popular Metzeler ME Z4 series, the Roadtec Z6 has further improved levels of wet and dry grip. It demonstrates a specific and discernable “riding confidence”, especially in critical maneuvers you will find solid contact with the road, great progression and a stable trajectory. Described as in the motorcycling press as "an innovative tyre for a segment growing in capacity and power".
